Invite strangers to come work at your apartment

Earlier this week, I came across this article on my Facebook feed, which is quite close to our coliving project. Unfortunately, the whole article is in French. But for our fellow non-French speakers here, I’ll give you a brief overview.

Cohome, a French startup, connects remote workers (digital nomads, students, …) with people willing to share their apartment as a working space for a day or even a few hours. This solution is at least half as cheap as most coworking spaces ! They now expanded to every major city in France and have more than 3 000 members !

#cohome and #coffee !

Cohome, a French startup, connects remote workers (digital nomads, students, …) with people willing to share their apartment as a working space for a day or even a few hours. This solution is at least half as cheap as most coworking spaces ! They now expanded to every major city in France and have more than 3 000 members !

Why this is great and why it wouldn’t work for us

Some people I know from my experience in Paris are reluctant to most coworking spaces because of 2 things: the price and the atmosphere, even 25 euros a day ramps up to 500 euros a month and not every remote worker can afford it, especially if you already pay a rent in Paris. And why would you want to work in an office look-a-like when this is exactly what you decided to flee by becoming a digital nomad ? Cohome’s solution makes it affordable and a good host will make the experience fantastic.

Now, I believe this is a great opportunity for most people targeted by Cohome: remote workers, students, job-seekers … But not digital nomads ! They are already paying a rent somewhere, often overpriced if the duration of stay is shorter than a few months. In addition to that, you are limited to big cities, lack some fresh air and the experience will be alike in one city or another.

Our vision

It’s quite simple, we want to offer a package of coworking and coliving together. We want it to be specifically targeted at, but not limited to, digital nomads. How cool would that be to leave the big city life and to end up on the Mexican coast ? We want our coliving and coworking spaces to be a second home for you, and the experience to be unique. In addition to that, we also want DNA to be a new home for us as well and create our own community. So we could say our project is both cohoming and coliving ! All four of us have been bored of living in capital cities and are seasoned travelers. We have a pretty good idea of what we want DNA to look like but we might be missing out on a few details ! This is why we believe it would be great if you, as future customers, could feed us with good ideas you’ve seen somewhere else.
